Please join us at the Inaugural Annual Meeting of Working Group 10 (“WG10”) as we launch the “Sedona dialogue” about best practices in patent litigation in the post-AIA environment. Leading jurists and patent practitioners formed WG10 to develop best practices and recommendations for patent litigation case management. WG10 is designed to run in parallel with, and to support, the congressionally-mandated Patent Pilot Project.
The first face-to-face meeting of WG10 will be held at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC, September 19-20. The Steering Committee and Core Drafting Team are hard at work this summer preparing rough draft chapters (1 and 2 below) and scoping outlines (3, 4 and 5, below) in the following five areas, which will be the focus of the dialogue at the meeting:
- Patent Case Management – Best Practices and Recommendations
- Summary Judgment
- Use of Experts, Daubert, and Motions in Limine
- Jury Verdict Appellate Issues/Post-Trial Motions
- Parallel USPTO Proceedings
We will also be dialoguing the best focus for the balance of the chapters under discussion by the Steering Committee.
WG10 co-chairs Rob Sterne, founding partner of Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox, and former Chief Judge Paul Michel of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, will be joined at the meeting by the following jurists:
- Hon. Kent Jordan of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals
- Hon. Kate O’Malley of the CAFC
- Hon. Joy Conti of the Western District of Pennsylvania
- Hon. Faith Hochberg of the District of New Jersey
- Hon. Marvin Garbis of the District of Maryland
- Hon. Barbara Lynn of the Northern District of Texas
Attendance will be limited to 90 people to ensure the intimate, high-quality dialogue of The Sedona Conference® Working Groups. WG10 Steering Committee members and core drafting team members are especially encouraged to join us; the more WG10 members who can join us, the more productive the meeting will be in terms of shaping WG10 work product.
Meeting Logistics:
The Mayflower Hotel is at 1127 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC, a five-minute cab ride from Union Station, and 20 minutes from Reagan Airport.
