Jaap is partner and head of the IP & Technology department at BarentsKrans in The Hague, the Netherlands. He is a seasoned lawyer with over 20 years of experience in IP and an excellent reputation and track record in multi-jurisdictional patent litigation. Jaap has assisted a wide array of clients in various industries, including nutrition, medical devices, software, telecommunications and renewable energy. He has a particular reputation and track record in pharmaceutical and biotech patent litigation. Recently, he led the litigation effort in the widely reported pan-European patent litigation on fingolimod (Gilenya®) between Mylan (Viatris) and Novartis. His work is recognised by Legal 500, Chambers, IAM and WTR. He is a regular speaker and the author of various publications on IP and patent related topics, an editor of the EPLAW patent blog and a member of the Exams Committee for the Professional Education of Dutch Patent Attorneys.
