Brexit and beyond: Challenges and risks for data processing and international transfers

Date
-
Panel Description

In the wake of the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU), legal practitioners are grappling with complex and novel challenges that may impact the flow of data, particularly the cross‐border flow of data. Brexit has created a unique situation in which regulation of personal data processing that is currently unified may become increasingly fragmented as the UK and EU diverge, with neither bound to follow the other. The panel will lead a dialogue on the challenges and risks that may arise in relation to data processing and international data transfers following Brexit.
