The Sedona Conference, in association with the Academy of Court Appointed Masters, is presenting its first-ever training program on eDiscovery Dispute Resolution for Special Masters & Mediators on Thursday-Friday, January 28-29, 2010, at the Royal Palms in Phoenix, AZ.

The program features a stellar faculty of judges, and experienced e-discovery practitioners and experts drawn from The Sedona Conference® Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1), authors of The Sedona Principles and other authoritative commentaries. The program materials will be drawn from various Commentaries by The Sedona Conference® on eDiscovery issues as well as from the Toolkits and Resources currently being developed to support The Sedona Conference® Cooperation Proclamation, a national effort to reduce the cost and contentiousness of discovery, already cited in a dozen federal court opinions and endorsed by nearly 100 state and federal judges.

The training program is designed for experienced special masters, mediators, arbitrators, and other legal and commercial dispute resolution professionals (and those desiring to be such) who are involved in - or anticipate involvement in - disputes in which the preservation, collection, review, management, or evaluation of electronically stored information will likely be an important issue or issues.

Learning Goals:

Participants will be introduced to basic concepts, engage in dialogue with experts, and explore tested dispute resolution strategies in the following areas:

  • Preservation of ESI

  • Cost Allocation
  • The Use of Search Terms & Other Cost-Effective Automated Search Technologies
  • Appropriate Forms of ESI Production & Supervision of Forensic Inspections

We hope to see you in Phoenix!
