Tom is a technology attorney who advises on incident response and cybersecurity, data governance/GRC, and other aspects of international privacy and product compliance for clients in industries ranging from artificial intelligence to life sciences. In contested proceedings regarding remotely-proctored online testing at the college entrance, university, and professional licensure levels, Tom has served as a consulting expert for advocacy groups and individuals on technical and legal issues such as data security, privacy, facial detection/recognition, and AI/automated decision-making; and has been quoted on these topics in several popular legal publications. Tom has an M.S. in Computer Science and holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) cybersecurity certification. He is a cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, and is licensed in California and North Carolina.
